Private Browsing Is Not a New Identity
Use private-window features with realistic expectations about accounts, websites, and information you choose to share.
Ask what privacy means in this task
People use the word private to mean several different things: fewer local traces, less information shown to a nearby person, or anonymity from a website. Those are not interchangeable goals. Mozilla states that Private Browsing does not make you anonymous online. Before relying on a private window, name the problem you are trying to solve. If your concern is the public information on a profile, changing the window mode does not answer what that profile reveals to its visitors.
Signing in is still an account action
Consider opening a private window and then intentionally signing in to your usual account. You are choosing to identify that session to the service through the account. That should not be surprising, but the visual change in browser mode can create a false feeling of separation. Read the service's account and privacy information for what it does with your activity. Do not use the private-window label as a substitute for deciding whether you want to perform the action while signed in.
Information you provide deserves its own review
A message, uploaded picture, or completed form is a disclosure you choose to make to a recipient. Ask whether the recipient needs the details, regardless of the window used to send them. For example, posting a workplace name in a public biography remains a public-profile decision. The useful habit is to review the content and its audience separately from the browser setting. That keeps a technical feature from carrying expectations it was never meant to satisfy in the first place.
Choose a specific, verifiable benefit
Private browsing can still be useful when its documented behavior matches your goal. Read the official explanation for your browser and version, then avoid extending that explanation into a claim about every observer or every file. You do not need to abandon the feature because it has limits. You need a clearer sentence about what you expect it to do. A realistic privacy routine combines understood settings with deliberate account actions and careful disclosures, rather than asking one window to provide an entirely different identity.
